Coronation Street spoilers: Two deaths next week leave residents distraught
Theres more tragedy afoot in Coronation Street as news reaches two much loved characters that friends of theirs have died. Audrey Roberts gets a blast from the past when she gets the news that her beloved undertaker friend Archie Shuttleworth has passed away and she informs Rita Tanner of the news as they reflect on their memories of him.
Viewers will recall that Archie was played by Roy Hudd and was central to the Richard Hillman storyline – he and Audrey had sussed the serial killer out towards the end. After that, Archie had hoped to be more than friends with Audrey but she was forced to let him down.
Archie returned twice to the show after that, for the funerals of Mike Baldwin and then Blanche Hunt. His last appearance in the show was in 2010.
Its not just Audrey getting bad news either – Sinead Osbourne learns that her new found friend Steff has died after her cancer spread. Sinead has been using complementary treatment in place of chemotherapy after talking to Steff about alternatives but Steff suddenly took a turn for the worse, forcing Sinead to re-evaluate her approach.
