Nominations open for Augusta Margaret River volunteers

Community members within the Shire of Augusta Margaret River are being asked to nominate a volunteer who they think is deserving of a Volunteer of the Year award or a Youth Volunteer of the Year award.

The annual award program, which opened for nominations last week, aims to recognise the value of all volunteers in the local community and single out several whose exceptional dedication warrants special acknowledgement.

Shire of Augusta Margaret River Community Development Officer Jessica Black said the South West region benefitted significantly from a high volunteering participation rate, in all kinds of roles.

“There a many people who work quietly and tirelessly to make a real difference to the lives of others,” she said.

“This is a chance to recognise and celebrate their achievements.

“I encourage community members to nominate a deserving friend or colleague.”

A panel will consider the applications with the final award winners to be presented with their accolades at the International Volunteer Day Celebration set to be held 6pm – 8pm on Wednesday 5 December 2018 at the Shires Civic Administration Centre in Margaret River.

Full details about the awards, including eligibility criteria and nomination forms, available via the Volunteering page on the Shire website (www.amrshire.wa.gov.au/services/community-development/volunteering) and from the Shire of Augusta Margaret River Libraries and the Civic Administration Centre.

Nominations close 4pm Friday 16 November 2018.
