Several major Slender Man scenes removed ahead of its release to avoid being disrespectful
Ahead of its UK release next week, Slender Man has been dubbed an incomplete film by some critics after several violent scenes had to be cut.
It is claimed the scenes were cut to bring the film down to its PG-13 (UK: 15) rating and to avoid potential backlash.
The film, based on the 2009 Slender Man meme was always going to be dark – however, it seems that the original cut went too far.
The figure of Slender Man has become inextricably linked to the shocking trial of two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls who tried to kill their classmate to win favour with the fictional figurehead.
Bill Weier, the father of one of the girls, spoke out against the creation of the film earlier this year.
He told Associated Press, Its absurd they want to make a movie like this.
Its popularising a tragedy is what its doing. Im not surprised but in my opinion its extremely distasteful.

His daughter was sentenced to 25 years in a mental institution for the crime.
According to insider information gleamed by Bloody Disgusting, the criticism from Mr Weier is what sparked the studios fear of backlash, leading to the cuts.
The popular horror site also claims inside sources confirmed several major scenes were cut from the film, and some scenes from the trailer are entirely absent from the final cut.
It hasnt had the warmest reception in the US, where it opened earlier this month and has racked up a score of 11% of Rotten Tomatoes and 3 stars on IMDB.
It sits alongside several other 2018 horror flops such as Blood Honey, Delerium, Day of the Dead: Bloodline and the Open House.
Make up your own mind and check it out when it hits cinemas on Friday 24 August.
