Jele: We are killing the supporters
Cape Town – Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele says the Sea Robbers have to go back to the drawing board to improve their game after back to back defeats.
Pirates were eliminated from the MTN8 last Sunday after a penalty shootout loss to SuperSport United and on Wednesday conceded a late goal to lose 1-0 to Wits in the Premiership.
Jele admitted that his side needs to work on their defending as they have been giving away silly goals since the new campaign started.
The Bucs skipper said he is well aware that the disappointing performances in the early stages of the season are hurting their supporters.
The lanky defender added numbers in attack in the dying minutes of the game in trying to help his team salvage a point but stated that they found Wits hard to break in defence.
"Yes, we wanted a goal. We started very well, but when we conceded a goal it was very difficult because Wits came here to get a point," Jele told SuperSport.
"They were defending all the way from the first minute and then they got the goal. It was very difficult for us to chase the game.
"I think for now we have to go back to the drawing board, start again and work harder. We have to avoid the silly goals that we concede.
"We killing the supporters and we have to work harder to maintain the performance of last season. We have to improve in lots of areas."
