Dustin Martin ruled out of Port Adelaide clash

Richmond champion Dustin Martin will miss Friday night's clash against Port Adelaide because of an injured calf.

The Brownlow Medallist will not join the Tigers on their trip to Adelaide on Thursday, and was instead spotted in the international section of Melbourne Airport where he was off to visit his father Shane in New Zealand.

The Tigers expect Martin to return by Monday, where he will have to prove his fitness ahead of the clash against Geelong on Sunday week.

The club said Martin experienced calf soreness following the 71-point win over Essendon last Saturday but he is expected to miss only a week.

Martin has not missed a game since round 22, 2014, when the Tigers defeated St Kilda by 26 points at the MCG.

He has averaged a team-high 24.64 touches per game this season and booted 16 goals, behind only forwards Jack Riewoldt (25) and Josh Caddy (27).
