Roman Kemp and Vick Hope are the voices of Capital Breakfast, and spend their days meeting the biggest stars in music.

But even when your daily job involves rubbing shoulders with Taylor Swift and speaking to thousands of devoted listeners, there are a few celebs that can get you tongue-tied.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Roman and Vick admitted that theres been a few celebrities that have left them flustered.

Roman told us: You have massive respect for people – like, I did Justin Timberlake recently and thats quite cool. Its not like a starstruck moment, I was just really intrigued to listen to him. Theyre the moments I go “wow”.

But in a different realm, one of my favourite interviews Ive done was Tim Peake, the astronaut, coming in. For me, thats almost bigger than Ed [Sheeran] coming in.

Tim was actually in on the same day as Ed, I told Ed he was here, he was like “shut up” and he had to go and get a photo.

Vicks was a little bit more unexpected: Of all the people Ive ever met that I got a bit tongue-tied around was Chris Moyles. And it was just down the corridor at Radio X. I grew up listening to him, in the car on the way to school, and that voice, you feel like you wake up with him.

And just like us, they have some fears about meeting their heroes.

Vick, 28, said: If were talking about the pinnacle of a career, it would be someone like Barack Obama. But within music, Ive torn as to whether to say Beyonce or not. I love her so much, and her live show is the best Ive ever seen, hands down. What she represents is so important culturally, socially, on many levels. But they do say never meet your heroes. So part of me never wants to meet her, so she can stay in that realm.

And Roman added that he has the same feelings towards Eminem and Jim Carrey – although he knows exactly who his dream chat would be with.

The 25-year-old said: Rihanna. Ive had the opportunity to interview Rihanna and its never happened, for varying reasons. I think that would be really fun. Even if she didnt like me, Id really enjoy the interaction.

I interviewed Scarlett Johansson once, and growing up I was obsessed with Scarlett Johansson. She was informative and engaging in the interview, but shes quite straight and can come across as quite mean. But I was like, “Oh my god, Scarlett Johansson was really mean to me!” I loved it! I was really happy.

Its not just Roman and Vick that are taken aback by their glitzy jobs.

Roman admitted that his parents – including dad Martin Kemp – are seriously proud of him hosting Capital Breakfast, while Vick said: You do all these jobs, you work so hard, and they worry. My mum and dad are like “when are you going to get some money? When are you going to get some sleep? Are you ok?” But this is one of those jobs that you can see where its paying off. Their friends dont know about the online shit Ive done, but they can talk to their friends about this.

As the voices of the morning for thousands of listeners, youd feel safe to assume the pair feel a lot of pressure to please every taste.

But while Roman and Vick dont feel a huge level of responsibility, they reckon its getting easier to cross fandoms.

Roman said: Now, music is so accessible and attainable that its gone where someone is following a certain genre because theyre being told to. Every kids has the ability to go on YouTube and look at all these different genres, and I think thats good for music. What were doing is representative of the biggest tunes that people are listening to at the moment. You cant please everyone, which is fine, but were putting together the music that we want people to start their day with. Theres no sense of responsibility.

And Vick added: Fandoms are less tribal than they used to be. Back in the day, you belonged to a tribe, whether you liked rock, whether you liked pop, whether you liked hip-hop. But I think music has become more genre-fluid. A lot of the artists were playing and love and respect at the moment are crossing genres. Music is a bit more colourful than ever more, which is exciting.

Roman Kemp and Vick Hope will host Capitals Summertime Ball with Vodafone at Wembley Stadium on 9 June. Catch them on Capital Breakfast, weekdays from 6am – 10am and Saturdays from 6am – 9am.
