Giants’ $6m man returns to Manuka Fortress

Greene signed a six-year deal believed to be worth up to $1 million per season in March, locking the 24-year-old in long term.

"He trained really well [Wednesday] and Monday, so if he pulls up really well then obviously he'll come in on the weekend," Cameron said.

"We're expecting that, so hopefully there's no little set backs [Thursday] and Friday, but he's got through a full week.

"He was nearly there last week but we've taken that extra week to get him right and we look forward to him coming back into the team.

"There's times he'll be a bit rusty, hopefully he can get in some rhythm and there's not setbacks from here."

The nuggety little forward will bring much more than just goals to Manuka on Saturday – he also has plenty of mongrel.

That's something Cameron was looking forward to and an attitude he wanted the whole team to bring every time they run out on to the field.

"His quality up forward and his ability to hit the scoreboard everyone knows, but his spirit and his energy, he's a one-on-one player … he's a competitor and he never gives up and that's what you want in every team," Cameron said.

"Everyone's ultimately aiming for 22 players that have that sort of attitude.

"He never dies wondering and he'll always been trying to fight to the end regardless of whether you're winning or losing.

"If you can instil that into your footy club then you're heading in the right direction."

Lobb's become an important cog in the Giants' hopes of stringing their eighth straight win at Manuka, given Sandilands escaped with a fine for his off-the-ball high bump on Gold Coast Sun Jarryd Lyons on the weekend.

But he still has to prove to Cameron he can take his spot in the Giants team.

Lobb fell awkwardly on his left knee in the Giants' loss to the Sydney Swans, but scans showed bone bruising was the only concern.

If Lobb doesn't get passed fit, Cameron was confident Dawson Simpson could handle Sandilands.

"He has pulled up really, really well. There's some bone bruising there [and] a few other little minor things," he said.

"We'll probably take towards the end of the week – we're not going to take until Saturday morning to assess whether he's right.

"He's either right by Thursday or probably Friday morning or he's not. But he is a genuine chance, but if he's not 100 per cent or close then there's no way we can risk him up against a guy like Sandilands, who's in great form.

"No doubt that door then opens up for a guy like Dawson Simpson."
