skynews– The federal government has flagged potential jail time for Australian citizens attempting to return home from India during a temporary COVID-19 travel ban. For the first time in history, the government could invoke powers under the biosecurity act which could make it illegal for citizens to enter Australian territory. The temporary pause reflects any travellers who has been in India within India in 14 days of their intended arrival date. Health Minister Greg Hunt said those found guilty of breaking the travel ban could be fined $66,600, five years imprisonment, or both
