Kardashian Christmas Is Canceled

instyle– The annual Kardashian Christmas Eve party, like just about everything else in 2020, is officially canceled. In a series of tweets, Khloé Kardashian confirmed that the star-studded event, which has drawn revelers such as Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, and Drake, won’t be happening because of California’s COVID-19 restrictions. Of course, fans will recall that the family lives in Calabasas, a city in Southern California. Kris Jenner started the Christmas Eve tradition back in the 1970s. In 2018, Kim Kardashian West took over hosting duties and in 2019, Kourtney Kardashian hosted the event.

According to Khloé, the party has been a family tradition for 42 years. As of Sunday, Southern California is under a brand-new Safer at Home order because hospital capacity at intensive care units fell below 15%. “All public and private gatherings of any number of people from more than one household are prohibited” for at least three weeks.

“@khloekardashian okay Khloé u doing the annual Kardashian’s Christmas party this year,” a fan asked. Khloé responded: “The Covid cases are getting out of control in CA. So we decided that we’re not doing a Christmas Eve party this year. It’s the first time we will not be having a Christmas Eve party since 1978 I believe. Health and safety first though! Taking this pandemic seriously is a must.”

People reports that the family may still have a smaller get-together. In addition to not having a party, Khloé (who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this year) announced that the family was skipping out on its annual Christmas photo, as well.

“We have not done anything. No Christmas photos and no Christmas Eve party this year. Covid has taken over,” she wrote in a follow-up tweet.

She also noted that if anything was to happen, the family would take precautions.

“I think it will have to be way smaller obviously. And I’m totally fine with that! But we’re definitely celebrating Christmas! It will just have to be small and safe. Maybe do rapid testing before We have to think of what is safest,” Khloé tweeted back in November.

The family recently took a trip to Lake Tahoe, ignoring L.A.’s stay-at-home order. And before that, the whole family celebrated Thanksgiving at Kris Jenner’s house in Palm Springs.

“The Kardashians spent three nights at Edgewood Tahoe filming for the show,” a source told E! News. “They had some of the kids with them and they all played outside and sat by the fire and roasted marshmallows. They also went ice skating on a private rink. They enjoyed a hot chocolate bar and had a big fireworks show over the lake at night.”
