King River Resources continues to progress PFS for Speewah Specialty Metals Project

King River Resources Ltd (ASX:KRR) is making progress with an updated pre-feasibility study (PFS) at its Speewah Speciality Metals (SSM) Project in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia.

KRR plans to initially scale the SSM project to produce high purity alumina (HPA), with vanadium, titanium, and iron as potential co-products at a later stage, but not included as part of the PFS.

The company has made progress with a number of aspects of the updated PFS, including optimisation work, and since May 13, the following has been carried out:

  • Calcination of the HPA precursor at 1200°C has helped reduce transfer losses and Al previously lost on final wash, and this should convert the HPA product to alpha-alumina;
  • Stage 2 purification precipitation recovery of 81.5% Al has been achieved. The target recovery for this stage of the process for the PFS was set at 80%;
  • Sources of contamination in the reagents used have been identified and from some equipment; and
  • Mining study by CSA Global is complete, in addition to the marketing and environmental reports.

The following hydrometallurgical test-work and studies are outstanding:

  • KRR must repeat the previously reported 4N HPA product (>99.99% Al2O3) result to produce a larger sample to provide for verification analyses;
  • Independent umpire Read More – Source
