Spanish singer Blas Canto has been officially confirmed as Spains entry in the 65th edition of Eurovision Song Contest in 2020, which is to be held in the Dutch city of Rotterdam.

Blas was chosen internally by the RTVE (Spanish Radio And Television Corporation) management, as he continues to work with the network to find the perfect song to perform during the competition.

The 27-year-old is no stranger to Eurovision, having first rose to fame after taking place in the Eurovision Junior youth contest in 2004 at the age of 12, helping Spain come in fourth place.

Years later, he became a member of the popular Spanish boyband Aauryn, who released four studio albums and achieved seven top 10 singles on the Spanish Singles Chart, before disbanding in 2016.

Aauryn also took place in Destino Eurovision in 2011, the selection process to represent Spain in that years Eurovision contest, reaching the final three with their track Volver (Return). In the end, Lucia Perez was chosen to represent the country with his song Que me quiten lo bailao (Get The Dance Out Of Me).

Following the breakup of the band, Blas signed a solo record deal with Warner Music Spain, and released his debut single In Your Bed in 2017. He released his debut studio album Complicado (Complicated) the following year.

The announcement of Blas taking part has given Spaniards hope that this entry will put the country back on the map, as they have only placed in the top 10 in the singing contest twice since 2005.

Earlier this year, the nation, represented by singer Miki Nunez, finished in 22nd place in the 64th competition held in Tel Aviv, Israel, after receiving a total of 54 points from other competing countries.
