Anyone who has worked with Beyonce can officially say theyve made it and Raye is one of those lucky few.

The British singer co-wrote Bigger, the first song on Beyonces incredible Lion King album The Gift released this summer, after impressing the pop icon with her impeccable storytelling skills and lyrics.

For a relatively new artist, the chance to be a part of Queen Beys momentous record was no small feat so needless to say, Raye is still buzzing after the whole experience.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk at the launch of her new holographic advert at Londons South Bank for Three UK, Raye said: Beyonces a legend and for me to contribute 0.0000 of anything is crazy.

And more so she adores the song, we really got on like a house on fire which is absolutely nuts because thats my idol.

A clip of Raye, 21, at the Lion King premiere in July went viral thanks to her hysterical reaction after Beyonce told her that Bigger was the first track on The Lion King: The Gift.

Reflecting on the whole experience, Raye said: Its reassuring because its like “Raye, youre meant to be here” and Im working with not only people that I looked up to but shes a queen in everyones eyes so to have someone like her respect your work, perspective and opinion – wow.

Its very, very humbling. It was a big moment for me.

It hardly comes as a surprise but working with Beyonce opens doors in the music industry that were previously closed, and Raye admits shes now being approached with incredible opportunities to work with other a-list artists.

That is what it is, people see good things and start texting you but I aint got no time for that. I know whos real and who aint. Thats why Ive got the same friends, Raye revealed.

The doors that are opening for me now, from a work perspective big artists want me to pitch and write for them. So my writing career has really taken off.

Basically this is just the beginning for Raye, and while shes keeping her future collaborations close to her chest, she has confirmed that shell be releasing something with former Fifth Harmony singer Normani who, lets face it, has become everyones newest music obsession.

And it seems Raye is just as taken with the pop princess as the rest of us.

Shes become one of my best friends in this industry, Raye said of the Motivation singer.

I love that girl, Im so proud of her winning right now. Im going to spend a bit of time with her at the end of this year and were going to start honing in some of the stuff weve created.

She is heading for legend status and its so beautiful to see a dark-skinned popstar. Obviously shes repping for hip hop and R&B but shes making commercial music for daytime radio and shes flying. That is what weve needed to be for a long time and Im so honoured to be a part of it in any way.

Raye is all about female empowerment and supporting other women in the music industry, which is why she was so thrilled to work with Jess Glynne on the remix of her latest single, Love Me Again.

I really appreciate girls going out of their way for each other behind the scenes and not just for the camera, she explained.

I really am encouraged and in awe of receiving that from [Jess] and in turn it makes me want to do the same.

Love Me Again might be the poppiest song Raye has released so far after a string of urban-heavy hits like Check and Decline.

It was somewhat a conscious decision as the singer reveals how she likes to embrace all genres to represent her heritage.

Being a mixed race artist, Ive always been somewhere in the middle of so many different things. And as a writer, I adore all genres, she admitted.

I love digging into the Afrobeats side, R&B slow jams, I love neo soul. I love piano ballads, stripping it down to basically I love pop music, I love EDM.

So its crazy and its been a tough journey for me to now be like, you need to now distinguish whose artist Raye, whos writer Raye and what were going to do about all these songs that youre sitting on.

To stay true to her roots, Raye later revealed: For every pop single I release, I want to release an Afrobeats remix. Im working on that for Love Me Again.

Surprisingly, the popstar admits that shes not a fan of all songs in her catalogue despite clocking up the streams and airplay.

I want to be a big artist and create something for radio but also something that I adore, Raye said.

Thats whats been so tough about it and why its taken me so long. Love Me AgaRead More – Source
