Mac Miller death: 28-year-old arrested on suspicion of supplying rapper lethal counterfeit drugs

A man has been arrested on suspicion of supplying the deadly drugs that contributed to the death of rapper Mac Miller.

The performer died aged 26 in his San Fernando Valley home in September last year.

It was later determined he passed after ingesting counterfeit oxycodone pills that were laced with fentanyl, which directed contributed to his death.

Federal charges were made on Wednesday against Cameron James Pettit, 28, for allegedly supplying the Self Care singer the pills.

In a 42-page criminal complaint, obtained by NBC News, its claimed Pettit was reportedly approached by Mac who requested percs – a slang term for oxycodone heavy painkiller, Percocet, as well as an assortment of other drugs.

Instead, he was given forgeries containing fentanyl, xanax and cocaine, leading to his death being considered an accidental overdose.

He also had cocaine and alcohol in his system when he died.

The document claims that Pettit, as well as a sex worker and madam that was directly connected to Pettit, delivered to Mac twice in the days before his death.

Police say they recovered a plastic bag containing the pills at the scene.

Daniel C. Comeaux, DEA Los Angeles Deputy Special Agent in Charge told the website following the arrest: While the death of any victim of the opioid epidemic is tragic, todays arrest is another success for the DEAs HIDTA Fusion Task Force.

Let our message be clear, if you peddle illegal drugs and kill someone, the DEA will be the voice of the victim. We will not rest until you face the justice system.

Mac – born Malcolm James McCormack – has been honoured in the year since his death at numerous events, vigils, and ceremonies.

Ariana Grande, who dated the singer for two years, led a memorial at Coachella this year for both Mac and Nipsey Hussle, who was shot and killed in LA this year.

Macs parents also attended the Grammys in his honour, and Blue Slide Park in Pittsburgh was renamed in his honour.
