The marketing campaign for a film that sees liberal elites hunting MAGA supporters has been suspended after a string of mass shootings in the US.

Thirty-four people were killed in mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, Dayton, Ohio and Gilroy, California in a matter of days in the States, and in the wake of the tragedies, Universal Pictures have decided to reevaluate the ad campaign for The Hunt.

The trailer for the thriller, starring Hilary Swank, Glows Betty Gilpin, Emma Roberts and Its Always Sunny In Philadelphias Glenn Howerton, shows a number of normal Americans waking up gagged in an abandoned field, after being kidnapped by elites.

The official blurb for the film reads: Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They dont know where they are, or how they got there. In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a group of globalist elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport.

But the elites master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin), knows The Hunters game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (Hilary Swank) at the centre of it all.

The trailer shows a notice board with pictures of people in front of US flags holding guns, and standing next to trophy kills, with the kidnapped explaining theyre from Wyoming, Mississippi, Orlando.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, in one scene, an elite says: Did anyone see what our ratf*****-in-chief just did with another replying: At least The Hunts coming up. Nothing better than going out to the Manor and slaughtering a dozen deplorables.

And those in charge of the Hunt suggest they chose the victims due to their anti-choice beliefs or using the n-word on social media.

A source told THR that Universal is evaluating its plans in what one called a fluid situation, while others see the film as a satire addressing an issue of great social importance.

The campaign for The Hunt was set to roll out last weekend; however, ESPN – who pulled a spot for the trailer – confirmed they would not be airing the trailer over the coming weeks.
