How many Home Alone movies are there and will Macaulay Culkin be in the reboot?

It seems its reboot season at the moment, with everything from Aladdin to The Little Mermaid being reimagined for a brand new audience.

The original audience, however – the ones who spent their childhoods rewatching and rewinding video tapes to see the first iterations – often arent too happy about new filmmakers coming in and putting their stamp on the classics.

The newest film to be resigned to the reboot is Home Alone, and the Millennials who adored the first ones are not taking it well.

Disney CEO Bob Iger made the devastating announcement during the Walt Disney Companys earning call that a new version of the 1990 classic is being made to stream on their new service Disney+.

Heres what we know so far.

Iger is currently somewhat tight-lipped, but we do know that the film is going to be adapted for a new audience.

If thats the case, were concerned that the whole premise of the film will be different. For example, nowadays everyone is equipped with a mobile phone and some way of accessing the internet. The bind Kevin McAllister finds himself in could be easily sorted with a WhatsApp message and a FaceTime call.

The first film (1990) saw poor Kevin left at home while the families went off on holiday, while Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992) features Kevin getting on the wrong plane and ending up on his own in New York – along with the Wet Bandits, of course.

Five years later came Home Alone 3, which was the last one, and the only one not to include the original cast including Macaulay Culkin.
