SuperSport CEO compares Gabuza to Kingston Nkhatha

Cape Town – SuperSport United Chief Executive Officer Stan Matthews says new signing Thamsanqa Gabuza is in the mould of former club number nine Kingston Nkhatha.

Gabuza was brought in ahead of 2019/20 from Orlando Pirates as the 32-year-old brought to an end a six-year stay with the Sea Robbers which saw him score eight Premiership goals.

Some have questioned whether the forward is a valuable asset for Bucs given his less than consistent strike-rate in front of goal, however, Matthews takes the view that he has plenty to offer in support of number one striker Bradley Grobler.

He told KickOff: "Last year we had [Mxolisi] Macuphu and James Keene as players that could play as cover for Bradley [Grobler] and with Bradley. Certainly, Macuphu had a decent combination with Bradley, so the kind of direct, strong and physical number nine to support Bradley or cover for him is important for us.
