Quentin Tarantino admits writing Manson murder victim Sharon Tate into Once Upon a Time in Hollywood could be in bad taste
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is the film everyones excited to watch, but director Quentin Tarantino has revealed that he had his reservations about writing Manson murder victim Sharon Tate into the plot.
He told Time: I thought hard about it. You can try it, and maybe you wont pull it off. Maybe it falls into bad taste, it seems ugly, opportunistic.
I was aware of all those things. But that doesnt mean I didnt want to try. I knew that if I was going to do this, I had to earn the right to do it at some point in the material.
So I risked going for it. And when I did it on the page, I thought I did pull it off. If Id tried it and wasnt able to pull it off, then I wouldnt have made the movie.

He added that the dark side of the story was the reason it took him so long to finish the film, explaining: To tell you the truth, I probably could have finished this movie five years ago. I put it aside.
I questioned whether I wanted to let the Manson family into my head that much. I came close to abandoning this entire project because I didnt know if I wanted it in my life.
Despite not having much dialogue during the movie, Sharon Tate is one of the main characters in the narrative, but the real actresss career was cut short when she was brutally murdered.

Margot Robbie takes on the role of Sharon, who was just 26 years old, married to Roman Polanski and eight and a half months pregnant when she and four others were murdered by members of the Manson family.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be released in the UK on 14 August.
