Former Australian schoolboy Tepai Moeroa will leave the Parramatta Eels at the end of the NRL season after signing a two-year deal with the Waratahs and Australian rugby.
In a big win for rugby, Moeroa will remain with the Waratahs until 2021. His contract was topped up by Rugby Australia, such was the interest in the former Newington College student.

Moeroa debuted with Parramatta in 2014 and has since played 102 matches for the blue and golds.
The 23-year-old's rugby pedigree and desire to see the code prosper in Australia were the main reasons for his switch.

“I played rugby union throughout high school at Newington where I worked with Rappy [NSW Rugby general manager Tim Rapp], so its nice to be back and Im really excited to represent the Waratahs,” Moeroa said. “I feel like this is the right time for me to come back [to rugby] and Im in a position where I have time to get established in Super Rugby and then challenge myself to achieve more.
“In speaking with Tim and [Waratahs boss] Andrew [Hore] before signing, I knew this was going to be a great place for me to reintroduce myself to the game to develop and achieve those goals.
“The Waratahs are home to some fantastic players. Im looking forward to working with them and getting started in the pre-season.
