A teacher was convicted of having sex with a female student who has since professed her love for the former educator.

Jennifer Walsh, 27, was spared jail on Friday after she was sentenced to just one year of probation for carrying out a sexual relationship with the 17-year-old student between May and August 2018.

Walsh, who was a special education teacher at Sycamore High School in Ohio, faced up to 18 months in prison, but was given the lenient sentence after the teen professed her love for her.

On Wednesday, the unnamed teen reportedly told judge Jody Luebbers: I know in my heart that I am completely in love with this woman without a doubt.

Luebbers seemed to take the teens feelings into consideration and asked prosecutors to reconsider the charges against Walsh, who then allowed to plead to a low-level felony, Walshs attorney, Stew Mathews said.

According to Mathews : That closer look (at the charge) was spurred by Judge Luebbers, whos compassionate and has a huge heart.

Luebbers said the case was truly unique during Fridays sentencing hearing and said the teen engaged in this conduct willingly.
