Katy Steele returns to the region for upcoming gig

WA favourite Katy Steele is "super pumped" to return to the region and play a gig at The River on Friday August 9 unleashing new music and old classics for fans in the South West. Steel said it had been a while since she has played, and she was especially excited about the show because they were about showcasing her new songs. "My new music is kind of similar to my older stuff, they are all about the melodies and the songwriting, but I would say the productions have a different aesthetic," she said. "There is more of a 70's influence, there is a lot more piano and I have a 20-piece choir singing on there, it is all about the song and the voice, and the power of the lyric really shining through. "My record Sophomore should have a single out early next year." It will be the first time Steele plays at The River which she was really excited about and punters could expect to have a fun night. "I will be playing some of my more memorable Little Birdy songs, there will be a mix with material from my album that I released three years ago, and some newer stuff," she said. "It is a really cool mix, the show will be really upbeat and fun with lots of singing along." Steele plans on staying in the region for a few days to take some time out from her busy schedule. "I am loving being back in WA, I recently had a daughter and it is a really nice play to bring up a kid, while I am not sure how long I will be back for it is really nice being home," she said. "When I moved overseas I was going through lots of changes, there was lots of ups and downs which is all part and parcel of life. "I had been in Little Birdy for most of my life then went in my own direction, which is always really hard when you go off on your own, it can be hard to find that stability. "Now I am in such a good place and my music is better than its ever been in a long time, I have a really great band and a really great partner so everything is good." Tickets to the Katy Steele 'Soul Bride' Teaser Tour are $33.70 and can be purchased online at tickets.oztix.com.au/default.aspx?Event=102714.
