A devoted dog owner gave his beloved German Pointer mix a final weekend filled with treats and love after discovering the animal had terminal cancer.

Stephen Rampersad was distraught when his veterinarian told him his dog Wilsons urine was a funny color because he was suffering terminal bladder and stomach cancer.

Rampersad, who works as a firefighter, and wife Christen, from Pensacola in Florida, got the terrible news last Friday. They were told Wilson was in severe pain, and that nothing could be done to save him.

So Stephen, Christen and their sons Noah, 5, and Jonah, 6, they decided to give 14 year-old Wilson the best send-off possible before taking him to be put to sleep on Monday.

Wilsons weekend began with a boat launch that saw him allowed to splash around in the water.

The peaceful pooch was also left to sit looking out over the bay for an hour and enjoy his surroundings.

Wilson went to work with Rampersad on Sunday, and snapped a selfie with his dog dad in his uniform, the Pensacola News Journal reported.

Rampersad woke up with a heavy heart Monday morning knowing it was Wilsons last day alive, and decided to take his pet to the beach.

Once there he got a call from a manager at a local restaurant called Shaggys asking about landscaping services, which he does on the side.

Rapmersad explained what was happening with Wilson.

Recalling what happened next, he said: (The manager) said, “Well, we are all dog-friendly, and the girls will take care of Wilson so we can walk the property and they can have lunch.”

And Shaggys were true to their word, letting Wilson have a fully-loaded cheeseburger, fries, a plate of bacon and vanilla ice cream to ensure he didnt go hungry.

The servers fussed over Wilson, with Rampersad saying his late dog was delighted by the attention.

He said: Wilson was just over-the-top excited about it all.

Every time food came up, his ears would perk up.
