Soccer club secure life saving device

The Nyngan soccer club will help save lives after they secured funding to purchase a defibrillator to assist in the event of a cardiac arrest. Soccer President Graham Jackson said the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) will be installed in the canteen at Frank Smith Oval. Mr Jackson said inspiration to secure the life saving device was after his wife's brother passed away as a result of a heart attack on a football field. READ ALSO: "But one of the biggest things of all, is we have an elderly population here, and a lot of towns are now getting these devices," he said. Former club secretary Steve Eckart secured a funding grant which covered half the costs for the device, with the soccer club contributing the rest. According to Mr Jackson another three defibrillators will be soon distributed across the shire which include Larkin oval, the swimming pool and at Hermidale. "They're all by Zohl and up to date, and we will have some training on how to use them, which is still to be worked out," he said. "A big thanks to Steve Eckhart for putting in the ground work, it's a great effort."
