Tune in to the telly for special screening of the Coonamble rodeo

Next weekend, for the first time ever, a special screening of the Coonamble Rodeo and Campdraft will be featured on television. The community and sporting event will feature in five half an hour episodes over consecutive weeks. Bucking Bull Hotel publican Scott Richardson came up with the idea, so approached Channel Seven to see if they were interested to doing a series on the biggest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The network jumped on board and over the 2019 June long weekend eight cameras filmed over a hundred hours worth of footage across two days. Chanel Seven's 7Mate will screen the first episode at 12pm on July 13. Mr Richardson said they had a great weekend of filming, saying the crew enjoyed it way more than he thought. "They were wrapped. They want to do more. A lot of the crew came up from Sydney and they just had a great weekend," he added. What may set the series a part from other rodeo series, is the various cameras and filming methods used. Filmmakers even placed a camera on the rodeo clowns, something which had never been done before at Coonamble. "Without these slow motion cameras most of this action has never been seen before," he said. With Coonamble and the wider central west, NSW region experiencing one of the worst droughts in memory, Mr Richardson hopes the series can help shine some positivity on the region. "Everyone is doing it tough but it was a great weekend because it saw the town full and people was saying how busy it was, which is great," he said.
