If theres one song you cant get away from this summer (and why would you want to?) its Old Town Road by Lil Nas X.

The catchy bop – with a remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus – absolutely smashed the charts from April onwards, propelling Lil Nas X to stardom.

The song has been surprisingly controversial since its release in December last year, after Billboard removed the song from their country chart, where it had reached number 19.

It was disqualified for allegedly not fitting into the country genre, prompting calls for it to be reinstated by other country singers.

Lil Nas X also managed to have the last laugh too, releasing the remix with Cyrus in retort and getting to number 1 on Billboards Hot 100 on his birthday.
