Bellamy backs Munster to thrive at full-back
Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy has backed star Cameron Munster to stand up as Queensland's full-back in the third and deciding State of Origin clash next Wednesday.
Munster started his NRL career with the Storm by filling in for Billy Slater at full-back and starred in the role until he was moved to five-eighth for Slater's return from long-term injury in 2017.
Munster hasn't played full-back since then, but was drafted into the role by Maroons coach Kevin Walters after Kalyn Ponga went down with a calf injury.
Bellamy was asked whether Munster was ready to play a complete game in the position, given the extra running demands compared to five-eighth, and he backed Munster to stand up.
"You don't make as many tackles back there as you do in the front-line like he has been doing," Bellamy said.
