Pictured: Girl, 12, killed after texting driver smashed into her car
A twelve-year-old killed after a texting driver smashed into her car has been identified.
Stephanie Gonzalez died Sunday afternoon when she was ejected from the car driven by a relative on Highway 99 in California.
Omer Darz Gorzi, 24, slammed his Ford F-250 truck into the back of the slow-moving Acura Integra that Stephanie was a passenger in.
Police say Gorzi did not see the Acura until it was too late because of his inattention while texting on his phone.
After the initial collision, Gorzi collided with another vehicle, sending his truck airborne, before it came to a stop on its roof. Two more cars were also involved in the crash.
Stephanie was the only person to die in the five-car pile up. She was flown to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Her father, Nicolas Gonzalez, sobbed as he spoke to KCRA 3 about the moment he learned his daughter had died.

Gonzalez said: Its hard for us. (A relative Stephanie was in the car with) called me and said they had a big accident. They got transported to the hospital.
She made me feel special because she said, “Nobody else is going to take my dads spot.”
