Why are people disturbed by Madonnas new video for God Control?

Madonna has faced some backlash over the music video for her new song God Control.

The new video was released on Wedesday and it has over one million view on YouTube.

It is song is part of the 60-year-olds newest album Madame X, which was released on 14 June 2019.

Here is everything that you need to know about the music video and why it has received backlash from some people.

Why has Madonnas God Control music video caused controversy?

In the video it depicts a mass shooting inside of a nightclub, and some people feel that it looks similar to the Pulse nightclub shooting which took place in Orlando, Florida in 2016.

At the start of the music video there is a warning that says The story you are about to see is very disturbing. It shows graphic scenes of gun violence. But its happening everyday. And it has to stop.

There are also visuals of people lying dead on the dance floor of a nightclub, as well as shots of people running in panic as a gunman opens far inside the club.

In the video Madonna performs with a group of supporting dancers on the dance floor, and clips of her in a shirt and tie, sitting at a typewriter are shown throughout.

Speaking to TMZ, Patience Carter, who survived the Orlando shooting said: As a survivor of gun violence it was really hard to watch.

For someone like me who actually saw these images, lived through these images, to see them again, dramatised for views, I feel it was really insensitive.

Another survivor of the pulse nightclub shooting tweeted: Appreciate the message, but please remember that there are people behind the prop youre using.
