An overseas trade delegation recently had the chance to discover the export potential of South-West made products. The South West Development Commission hosted the delegation in the lead-up to the Truffle Kerfuffle festival highlighting the quality of regional-based products. The group – comprising of importers from Malaysia and high-profile chefs and importers from Vietnam toured the South-West, stopping in the Bunbury-Geographe, Margaret River and Southern Forests areas. While in the South West, visitors had the opportunity to sample what the region has to offer, meet one-on-one with representatives from local businesses, and experience the Truffle Kerfuffle food and wine festival. The visit is one in an ongoing series organised by the South West Development Commission's TradeStart team as part of efforts to connect local producers to global market opportunities. South West Development Commission acting chief executive Rebecca Ball said inbound trade delegations were an effective mechanism for bringing buyers and producers together for targeted business matching to grow exports from the region. "We work globally to get the best results locally," she said. "And we are delighted our continued efforts are providing opportunities for local businesses to compete in the international marketplace. "The clean, green and safe image of the South-West is a big attractor to importers on the search for premium value-added food and beverages."
