Mark Ronson has confessed that he is glad he could use his recent heartbreak to inspire his new album.

The 43-year-old DJ and producer has revealed that his latest album, Late Night Feelings, is his most personal work to date; it is his first since his divorce last year to Josephine de la Buame.

I think it was the emotional state I was in that probably jump-started the whole record, but then its so many other peoples stories and emotions and things wrapped into it too, he said.

Im glad that I got to go to this place a little because, obviously you dont want to just go through a wrenching heartbreak just for the sake of it.

He also has admitted that his heartbreak has allowed him not to recreate his biggest hit to date, Uptown Funk.

But I imagine that if that hadnt happened to me Id be sitting here trying to follow up some Uptown Funk with some lesser groovy-type music, he told the Press Association.

I would just be, like, a carbon copy of a carbon copy of a copy, you know? Im glad for whatever reason Im not doing that.

However, he appreciates the massive success the song had, and doesnt mind if its the hit hell be most remembered by.

I dont mind that at all, thats an amazing feeling, he says.

Im still seeing videos they post of little kids dancing to it. Its amazing and if that song is the thing that looms over me then, thank God, I love that song. But Ive just got to switch it up.

But Mark did stress that at first, he found it weird to make music with an emotional depth to it.

On my own records, I dont know if its because I come from DJing and Im always just thinking about how people are going to dance or move or have a good time to it.

I just never really thought of my own records as a place to put a great deal of emotional depth or honesty before.
