Saoirse Ronan has joked about how good it feels to break Timothee Chalamets heart in the new adaptation of Little Women.
The pair starred together in Greta Gerwigs directorial debut Lady Bird and will reunite on screen in 2019 for the directors adaptation of Louise May Alcotts classic novel Little Women.
The actors and real life pals will play Jo March and Laurie, childhood best friends and neighbours whose lives stay forever entwined.
I loved that in Lady Bird, he was the one that broke my heart, but I got to break his heart in Little Women, said Saoirse.
In the book, Laurie confesses his love for Jo but she turns him down; he goes on to enjoy a long romance and marriage to her sister Amy.
There has long been speculation among fans of the book about Jos sexuality, thanks to her decision to turn down Laurie, along with her constant lamenting of femininity and love of mens clothes.
Greta added that the film will explore their intimate relationship, with the pair even swapping clothing throughout the story.

She told Vanity Fair in the first look at the film: Jo is a girl with a boys name, Laurie is a boy with a girls name. In some ways they are each others twins.
They find each other before theyve committed to a gender. It wouldnt be wrong to call Saoirse handsome and Timotheee beautiful. Both have a slightly androgynous quality that makes them perfect for these characters.

Saoirse and Timthoee will star opposite Emma Watson, Florence Pugh and Eliza Scanlan as the other March sisters, Meryl Streep as aunt Josephine and Laura Dern as their mother.
