Region’s frosty start with the mercury predicted to stay below zero

MANY Central West residents woke up to a very cold start on Thursday with the mercury falling well below zero in a number of locations. Earlier this week forecasters had predicted a cold front and the possibility of snow on Friday and Saturday. The coldest spot to be last night was in Lithgow where the mercury plummeted to a very chilly minus 5.8 degrees, Mudgee was not far behind at -5.1 and Orange at -5.0.
