WIN journalists, camera operators and editors set to lose their jobs in just nine days have been treated in a "disgraceful" way, readers say. The WIN newsroom in Orange is among the closures, so too are Albury, Wagga Wagga and Queensland's Wide Bay (which covers Hervey Bay and Bundaberg). On Wednesday, around 40 staff across the four locations were notified their bureaus were going to shut for good on Friday, June 28. "Oh no how disgraceful to those honourable people who have given us so much of their lives, [I] do hope you get other positions elsewhere. Thank you," Kay Hotham posted. Christine Bonham wrote: "Very sad for our region. Hope they all cope OK through this rough time". Other readers said regional communities often lost out on services those in the cities took for granted. "This is why the state is called NSW – Newcastle Sydney Wollongong. No votes for any political parties west of the great divide," Ken Bourke posted. While Kirsty Smith wrote: "Once again the separate state that is west of the [Blue] Mountains losing what to a vast majority of people see as an essential service".
