Margaret River netball players Jessie Whitehead and Jasmine Neilson have made a major impact on the West Australian Netball League Court, showcasing their fitness and skills in the 20/U competition. Whitehead is in her second year of Jets, continuing to impress with her shooting accuracy and speed. Recovering from a recent shoulder injury, Whitehead has done well to maintain her fitness, placing second in her recent fitness testing thanks to exercise physiology specialists Maximum Results. "My shoulder injury has definitely made me try harder to keep up and ensure I don't fall behind," Whitehead said. "I want to get on court and achieve my best every training and game." Putting in extra sessions throughout the off-season has ensured Whitehead is match-fit and ready for the tough competition. Jasmine Neilson is a key defender for the Jets. This is her debut season, already impressing coaches and the opposition with her strength and ability to read the play. Neilson has been training extremely hard and learning new skills to apply to her game. "Adjusting to the higher level of netball has been challenging but has made me work so much harder to get extra court time and get the best possible outcome from my performances," she said. Both Whitehead and Nielsen are extremely passionate and dedicated to netball and playing at a high level, travelling to Eaton twice a week for training as well as Perth once a week for the game. In their final years of schooling this commitment is impressive and reflective of their passion for the game. This week the ECU Souwest Jets will take on the East Fremantle Sharks at their formidable home ground, the Eaton Rec Centre. Jets will be boosted by the return of West Australian Netball League players Sloan Burton, Giselle Taylor and Jessica Repacholi who are coming off back-to-back wins against the Southern Force. Last season, the home crowd helped the Jets deliver all three wins at their home-ground. They will be looking to repeat last year's impressive performances. Last week, the Jets' league side opened its account with a 10-goal win over the Rangers, in Round One of this year's Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League season. The ECU Souwest Jets would love to see as many supporters as possible on Saturday Night. The first centre pass for the 20/U division is at 5pm, and the League game will commence at 6:45pm. There is free entry is for children under the age of 16, with lots of fun, games and prizes to be won through-out the evening.
