Baker wants Maroon Origin double

Queensland fullback Chelsea Baker wants Friday's women's State of Origin clash in Sydney to be the first leg of a Maroons double this weekend.

Baker and her teammates take on New South Wales at North Sydney Oval aiming to avenge last year's 16-10 loss to the Blues.

Two days later, Queensland's men's team will look to wrap up this year's Origin series in Perth.

"Why wouldn't we dream of that sort of thing? We do want them to win," Baker said.

"The double Maroon win would be fantastic. Absolutely. Of course it would be awesome."

Baker heads to Sydney full of good memories about last year's hugely successful inaugural women's Origin clash – despite the scoreline.

While Queensland were defeated, the game was a hit with a crowd of 6824 at the fixture.

"Last year was absolutely fantastic" the 33-year-old said.

"Yes, we lost the game but what we did for women's sport it was so good.

"It honestly didn't feel like we'd lost.

"We've had to brood on it for 12 months but … we've got a few fresh faces, we're going to get into it and we're ready to dig in."

Baker is one of several members of Brisbane's NRL women's premiership-winning team in the Queensland line-up.
