Judy Garlands daughter Liza Minnelli has shared her thoughts on what her mum might have thought of A Star Is Borns remake, after she starred in the 1954 version.

The Wizard Of Oz star played Vicki Lester in the film, which was remade last year with Lady Gaga in the lead role of Ally.

The singer went on to win a swag of awards after her portrayal of the aspiring superstar alongside Bradley Cooper was well-received.

However, Liza has told Entertainment Tonight she believes her mother would have initially found the remake funny.

She would have laughed, the performer told the programme. And then she would have gotten into it.

Okay, phew – good to know Judy would be accepting of the remake in the end, right?

Judys portrayal of Vicki was heralded as breathtaking, as she scored a nomination for best actress at the Oscars that year. Gaga missed out on the gong this time around, but she did take home the Academy Award for best original song Shallow.

Gaga and Coopers version of the flick isnt the first time the film has been remade for the big screen, with four epics out there – first made in 1937, then 1954, 1976 and 2018.

Seems we ruddy love the story, eh?

Elsewhere in her interview, Judy spoke about the upcoming biopic of her mothers life, with Renee Zellweger taking on the task of portraying the stage stalwart.

While shes a fan of Renee, she did seem a little hesitant in seeing her story brought to life properly, as she said: I just hope they dont do what they always do.

Thats all Ive got to say.

Previously Liza had publicly slammed the upcoming project, seemingly having changed her tune in the time since.

Writing on her Facebook page in June last year, the Caberet actress wrote: I have never met nor spoken to Renee.
