Marvel leaves Avengers fans scrambling for answers after cryptic message teases crossover
Marvel have returned to their sly selves after Avengers: Endgame, and have got fans all excited with a confusing message on Twitter.
But what does it mean, guys?!
The franchise tweeted five roman numerals: II IV V VI IX, alongside a link to a scrambled confidential page on their website in a move that utterly baffled fans.
Clicking on the link, fans are taken to a page that lists research memorandums about Weapon I, Weapon X, and Weapon XIII.
Despite a lot of it being redacted (what are the chances?!), the first listing refers to a US Army General, a super-soldier, and ends with the words SHIELD and Winter Soldier. Steve Rogers, you there?
The next mentions the X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier, and a certain someone who has bones and claws of adamantium. We see you, Wolverine.
Meanwhile, the final listing refers to the thirteenth weapon, another super-soldier, and the terrorist group A.I.M. Fantomex?

Some fans have been completely stumped by the cryptic message, with one writing: WHAT THW F***?
Another thought it might have been the work of the King Of Spoilers, adding: Tom Holland at it again smh.
I have questions, one more simply added.
However, some clued up fans appear to have it figured out.
They are Weapon Plus Program Members, Captain America is Weapon 1, Wolverine is Weapon X, Fantomex is Weapon XIII, one explained.
Yall ive solved it its the weapon x program, and these are the numbers of weapon test subjects who havent been ever identified… Weapon I = Captain America Weapon VII = Nuke Weapon X = Wolverine etc, another confidently pointed out.
It looks likely that the cryptic message refers to a new comic series, Wolverine & Captain America: Weapon Plus, which is set to reveal the secret connection between Captain America and Wolverine.
At long last, writer Ethan Sacks, artist Diogenes Neves, colorist Federico Blee, and inker Adriano Di Benedetto unveil the shadowy connections between Captain America, Wolverine, and more of the worlds super-soldiers, Marvel said in their initial announcement of the new comic series.
As more is revealed, one question emerges: Who are the new Weapons?
Well just be over here looking like the spitting image of the Chris Evans acrylic nails meme as we wait for more info.
While fans are still heartbroken over Avengers: Endgame (were still not over it), Marvel is looking to the future and it looks like theres a storm coming for phase four – especially in terms of the new villain.
