The Bogan Shire Council has joined five other local government areas in partnering with Outback Arts. Outback Arts is a not-for-profit arts and cultural development organisation working in the local government areas of Bourke, Coonamble, Cobar, Walgett and Warren. Outback Arts is one of the 14 networked Regional Arts Development Organisations in NSW, supported by peak body Regional Arts NSW. The organisation works to support artists, operate a gallery to showcase local talent, provide professional development and increase skills through workshops and connect creative communities. READ ALSO: Last Tuesday, June 4, Outback Arts executive director, Jamie-Lea Trindall and Aboriginal projects officer Fleur Stubbs met with director of people and community services at Bogan Shire Council Debb Wood, community agencies, and several local artists. The catch up saw new connections established in the Bogan Shire and the opportunity for Nyngan artists and community members to share what cultural, arts and mental health projects they have been running and their ambitious future plans. Along with the partnership announcement they welcomed an additional board member, councillor Veneta Dutton who will represent the Bogan Shire Council. "Veneta brings to the board a wealth of community knowledge, business management, Aboriginal leadership and governance practice," Ms Trindall said. The partnership allows Outback Arts to support the Bogan Shire region in the promotion of initiatives at a community-based level and with industry bodies. "We've had such a great experience meeting the locals in Nyngan, it has such an enthusiastic and positive community. Our team are really excited to be working with Bogan Shire," Ms Trindall said. Coming up in the community is the impressive program of week long NAIDOC Week Celebrations from July 1 to 5, 'Voice Treaty Truth'. The celebrations will include a community walk, cultural showcasing at local schools and early childcare centres, a community day event and dinner. Have you got a story to tell?
