Music festival drops in during surf Pro | Photos

Following the surf and celebrating music, community culture, and a love of the ocean The Drop Festival took over Barnard Park during this year's Margaret River Pro surfing competition The music event marked its place in the Australian festival calendar, with big name artists who performed at five locations around the country including the South West this year. Supported by triple j and the World Surf League the 2019 line-up for The Drop featured brother-sister duo Angus and Julia Stone, electric-dance act Client Liaison, surf rock legends Hockey Dad, two-time ARIA Gold accredited The Jungle Giants and rising star Alex the Astronaut. Crowds packed into the festival HQ to check out the top Aussie talent well into the night. Event organiser and surfing legend Wayne Bartholomew (Rabbit) said surfing and music ran a parallel course in popular culture and they were a natural fit to be held during the competition. "We have the dream tour, championship tour and other huge events in Australia, why not have a great day just for the fans who are surfing and music lovers," he said. "It is a great day of surfing followed by an incredible night of live music with some of the best artists in Australia."
