Donald Trump has issued a bizarre tweet suggesting that the Moon is a part of Mars.

The US president made the strange assertion while calling on Nasa to be more ambitious in its future plans for space exploration.

President Trump appears to have sent the tweet while flying home from a successful trip to the UK, Ireland and the beaches of Normandy in northern France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
