Golfers collect over $2700 at charity day out

Players at the Margaret River Golf Club for a special event to raise funds in support of local cancer charity, River Angels last month. The day included morning and afternoon tea and plenty of action on the course, as well as a silent auction packed with donated items from members, local businesses and individuals. Monies taken from the morning's Ladies Golf were added to the 'pot of gold' instead of being paid out to the winner, and in a reversal of fortune, 'winners' of the novelty prizes for the round were instead issued with 'fines' to be paid back to the fundraiser. With novelties all over the course, those fines amounted to a whopping $106 and everyone paid up with no complaint and amidst great hilarity. Sale items on tables around the club as well as the silent auction, featuring artwork, plants, wines, vouchers and more, continued the fundraising efforts. A number of cash donations were also made by individual members, further increasing the final tally. In addition to the ladies contributions, River Angels also accepted more than $300 from the Scroungers men on Thursday, bringing the total monies raised to over $2,700.
