Youngsters fly high in long weekend of matches

The long weekend kicked off Saturday morning with the U9 Navy Hawks hosting Augusta Magpies at Gloucester Park. Slippery conditions in the first half didn't seem to be an issue for the young players, with the Magpies scoring quickly, with the home side responding with back to back goals. Jarrah Davies and Harry Scott we're showcasing some of their best work for the Navy Hawks along with multiple goals from Ethan Ahola and Jordan Zan that came through some terrific linkages of play. Coach's awards went to Cory Hankinson, Will Teasdale, Jordan Zan, Ethan Ahola , Jarrah Davies and Harry Scott. A close game against a tough opponent for the Bulls on Saturday. Coach Nic Payne was pleased with the kids' efforts, saying they displayed great teamwork all day and gave coach's awards to Ace, Jace and Joel. In the 11s it was an even first half, both teams laying big tackles. Hawks Blue may have got the only goal in a tight first half. The second half was where Bulls got their 'skates on' with a great running style of game which was rewarded on the scoreboard. Avion Packer kicked two goals in the third quarter, and another in the last to finish the match with a game-breaking goals. Kian Monaghan-Hall kicked the first goal of the last term, with Flynn Anderson hitting the scoreboard with a big left-foot goal on the run. Coach's awards went to Packer, Monaghan-Hall, Mitch Kirby and Kai Luttrell. Cowaramup Bulls Red U11s played Hawks Orange producing a solid team effort. Coach Pete Mammone said the game was full of awesome tackles, great ground ball pick ups, fabulous marks and solid kicks. Coach's awards went to Griff, Flynn, Raph, Sonny and Lachy.
