80-year-old female being treated after motor vehicle accident near Nyngan

An 80-year-old female driver is being treated at Nyngan Hospital after her after a b-double collided with her vehicle. Emergency services including ambulance, police and Fire and Rescue NSW were called to the scene on the Mitchell Highway, near Mulla Road at about 1pm where a truck has collided with a small car. The female driver is in a stable condition and was transferred to the hospital after emergency services freed her from the motor vehicle. Police said there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol. Nyngan Police Sergeant Tony Wood said the accident demonstrates that a moment could have catastrophic consequences. "This highlights that on a clear day, with clear vision, vehicles travelling at 100 kilometres/hour need to be constantly aware of changing circumstances," he said. "Today we were happy to see no one seriously injured." Sergeant Wood praised emergency services for their swift response. "Fire and Rescue did and excellent job, and the Bogan Shire Council did a fantastic job providing logistical support implementing the traffic diversions."
