Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) has made a shocking and devastating confession to Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) in EastEnders following the tragic death of Dinah, who took her own life in the belief that her young daughter Bailey (Kara-Leah Fernandes) would stand a chance of a better future without her.
Karen had become aware of Dinahs intentions when she asked her to be by her side when she died but Karen refused, instead trying to talk her out of it and introducing her to a fellow MS sufferer. Karen was genuinely of the belief that she had changed Dinahs mind but viewers could see from the final way in which Dinah said goodbye to nine-year-old Bailey that this was far from the case.
As Mitch returned home and found Dinah dead, he was left shaken and devastated and his immediate thoughts turned to Bailey and how she would cope in the wake of this. Keegan (Zack Morris) tried to keep her out of the way but eventually, the brave youngster had to be told the harrowing truth that her mum was gone.
As Mitch tried to hold it together and be there for her, he later sat with a guilty Karen and blamed himself for what had happened. Karen assured him that it wasnt his fault and there was nothing more that he could have done and, seeing how much he was torturing himself, she tearfully admitted that she had been aware that Dinah had been thinking of ending her life.
