Margaret River Dirt Day gives girls essential skills

With the ever increasing popularity of mountain biking in the South West region, female riders still represent a minority within the growing sport. Three local businesses are making steps to change this with a special hosted day aimed at attracting women to the sport and providing essential skills and knowledge to riders. Dirt Skills Margaret River, On Track Mountain Biking and Humble Bicycle Co. have joined forces to put on the Girls on Dirt Day. The day is aimed at female riders starting from beginners to the intermediate rider. Girls will have an opportunity to refine their bike set up with bike mechanics Nick and Rex from Humble Bicycle Co. then will set off for some skills training with qualified instructors from Dirt Skills Margaret River and On Track Mountain Biking. After enjoying morning tea and regrouping, the girls will head off onto Margaret River's finest mountain bike tracks for a group ride. After working up a thirst with a day of riding the famed trails, the group will then head on to Brewhouse Margaret River for some well earned refreshments over some maintenance sessions under the trees. Easy Ride Tours have joined the party and will offer a free tour and an Arlewood Wines gift basket to one lucky lady who signs up to take part in the day. Easy Ride Tours will also have their electric bikes on board for the ladies to test out. The Girls on Dirt Day will be taking place on 19 May 2019.
