Annual forensics lecture to delve into poison case

The third annual Margaret River SHS Forensic Science Lecture will focus on the investigation around a headline-making nerve agent poisoning case in the UK. On March 4, 2018 a former Russian military intelligence officer and his daughter were found slumped on a park bench in the small English market town of Salisbury. Within days it became apparent they had been poisoned with a nerve agent developed by the Russian military. The presentation from award-winning lecturer and forensic researcher Professor Simon Lewis will give a case study of the events and the subsequent investigation that lead to the identification and charging of two Russian military intelligence operatives for the attack. This is a wonderful opportunity for all Margaret River residents high school age and older to experience first hand a presentation from a real forensic scientist- find out how different it is to TV forensics! Date: Thursday 2 May from 6.30pm to 8pm Venue: Margaret River SHS Auditorium Entry: Free but limited to 110, please call 9757 0700 to reserve seats. Suitable for community members 12 years and over. Following the seminar a light supper (kindly funded by the Margaret River Lions Club) is provided with an opportunity to meet Dr Lewis.

Russian case: Professor Simon Lewis will deliver a lecture on forensic sciences at the high school on Thursday May 2.
