He will visit a farm and the Gilgandra Show with Parkes MP Mark Coulton and government ministers, before flying out to continue campaigning ahead of the May 18 federal election. "We're standing up for our farmers and regional communities to fight this drought and to help create more opportunities and jobs," Mr Morrison said. "Strong regions and farms are key to our plan for a stronger economy. Our regional communities are Australia's engine room." READ ALSO: Dubbo police say pumpkins, a quad bike and lawn mower were stolen Mr Morrison claimed the government is already investing $6.3 billion in drought support and the new promises build on a commitment to establish a $5 billion Future Drought Fund. Deputy Prime Minister and Nationals leader Michael McCormack joined Mr Morrison, Mr Coulton and Agriculture Minister David Littleproud for the announcement. "They are fantastic family days – bringing people together, they celebrate local achievements and great local produce and they give community groups a chance to raise much-needed funding. "That investment can often support local small businesses such as accommodation and restaurants."

Support pledged
- $36.4 million to permanently ensure farmers can access cash support and no interest $200,000 loans for restocking and replanting during difficult times
- $20 million for regional agricultural show societies to upgrade infrastructure
- $14 million for more local councils to boost economic activity in drought affected communities
- $10 million to teach city kids about farming and allow them to visit farms
- $7 million for rural financial counselling for small businesses
- $720,000 on junior judging, farm safety promotion and community education about farming
- $220,000 to survey students and teachers, and promote the study of agriculture
"We're standing up for our farmers and regional communities to fight this drought and to help create more opportunities and jobs," Mr Morrison said.
