Margaret River Little Athletics wrapped up a great season of running, jumping and throwing with a fun morning recently including team relays and tug-o-war followed by club presentations. Throughout the season the kids receive points for their attendance, beating personal bests or achieving club records. In Little Athletics it doesn't matter if they come first or last in their events, they are simply competing against themselves and their personal times and distances. Congratulations to the following athletes who lead the way with achieving personal bests and centre records. Champion Girl (Junior) – Elly Jackiewicz; Runner Up – Mirabelle Proud Champion Boy (Junior) – William Mason-Walshaw; Runner Up – Oliver Healy Champion Girl (Intermediate) – Amelia Otto; Runner Up – Taylor Smith Champion Boy (Intermediate) – Louie Gibbs; Runner Up – Jack O'Brien Champion Girl (Senior) – Holly Smith; Runner Up – Jamie-Leigh Parkinson Champion Boy (Senior) – Joe Murphy; Runner Up – Curren Donovan Earlier in the season Margaret River had seven athletes represent at the Country Championships held in Albany. All 17 clubs from around the State attended from as far as Broome. Margaret River athletes came away with a swag of medals and finished third club overall (handicap). The Athletics season runs through Term 4 and Term 1. Registrations for the summer season will open September 1.
