The Weeknd paid more than Beyoncé for Coachella amid Ariana Grande backlash
The Weeknd was reportedly paid more than Beyoncé to perform at Coachella this year after the festival faced outrage following claims that Ariana Grande was paid double what the Crazy In Love singer earned.
The Beyhive is not happy.
The Starboy hitmaker – real name Abel Tesfaye – was said to have raked in a $8 million (£6 million) paycheck to headline the event, with Bey earning a comparatively small $3-4 million (£2.3-£3 million) for her legendary performance, which was renamed Beychella, according to TooFab.
Meanwhile, fans were outraged after it was claimed that Ariana was paid double the 37-year-olds earnings.
However, reports later emerged that both singers signed contracts worth $8 million (£6 million), according to The Blast, so we can all calm down a tad.
Fans were not impressed by the claims, with one tweeting: Ariana Grande being paid twice as much as @Beyonce to headline #Coachella is livin proof that as an African American you LITERALLY have to be twice as good to get half as much.

Its so irritating to know Ariana Grande got paid 8 mil to be at Coachella and Beyoncé only got 4 mil, another added.
However, some disagreed, being quick to point out that, with their huge net worths, both ladies are probably doing okay.
I dont get why Beyoncé stans are mad at Ariana because she was paid twice more than Beyoncé to headline Coachella. I dont think Beyoncé is mad about it so i dont get why yall should be. Get over it! Ariana and Beyoncé are unbothered with their huge net worth! one unbothered fan wrote.
With it being reported that the star raked in a whopping $60 million (£46 million) deal with Netflix for her new documentary and future projects, they might have a point.
Meanwhile, the singer has been a busy Bey recently, casually blessing us with her new Homecoming album and documentary.
Youll find us listening to Before I Let Go on repeat for a good few months TBH.
And the stars not stopping there, plotting world domination with her 2020 tour.
A source said: Beyoncé is a worker bee – one of the hardest grafters in the industry and she is already planning one of her biggest tours yet for next year.
