South West District Superintendent Mick Sutherland has asked for all community members to exercise caution over the Easter holiday period. Mr Sutherland said police would be patrolling across the Easter and Anzac Day school holiday period, targeting drivers that place others at risk by speeding, being impaired by drugs or alcohol, or being inattentive. "All South West police will be conducting targeted traffic enforcement and will be complemented by resources from State Traffic," he said. Mr Sutherland has also called for drivers to remain vigilant and courteous on our roads. "People are encouraged to stop frequently and to change drivers if fatigue is an issue," he said. "Those towing boats, trailers, or caravans are reminded to check their loads are secure, ensure the towed vehicle is licensed and roadworthy, and that – in 110 kilometre per hour zones – the maximum speed limit for towing vehicles is 100km per hour." The double demerits period will be enforced between Thursday, April 18 and Monday, April 22.
