Gotta spot them all (Picture: Marvel)

Were all a fan of Easter eggs and will pick apart our favourite movies en masse until we glean every single tidbit of information.

Its a habit film fans have, you see – but it gets us so darn excited. Because #layers.

With the upcoming Avengers: Endgame offering so close to our screens we can practically taste the Infinity Stones, what hidden messages will be buried by the saucy fiends that are Joe and Anthony Russo?

The directors have remained perfectly shtum on what were going to see in the three-hour long movie that wraps up the MCUs third phase.

Were still picking apart earlier films, like the original Thor movie that came out in 2011 which continues to engage the minds of its fans with its hidden elements and nods, its fair the Russo brothers and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Fiege have buried a bunch of snippets not just for the diehard fan, but those who are going to re-watch the film for years to come.

There were said to be tens and tens of the suckers in Infinity War, including Tobias Funke from Arrested Development sitting in a chamber in The Collectors collection in Avengers: Infinity War.

Its niche and its beautiful.

While Captain Marvel had a whole bunch of Pulp Fiction goodness, riffing off Samuel L Jacksons role.

But, like, how do you even begin to find an Easter egg? Weve seen them debated enthusiastically on Reddit, sure, but most of us probably assume well never be the one to start that conversation.

According to TV and film expert and presenter at Radioactive Screen Sam Carter its not necessarily about knowing what to look for, its just looking.

Keep your eyes and ears open and pay attention to every little bit of detail on screen, he told Metro.co.uk. Thats the best way for you to try pick up on what sweet little references the creators may have put in to tease the audiences.

Okay, sure, that seems like common sense – but where do we usually see them hidden?

An Easter egg can be anything, such as a throwaway line of dialogue, or an object hiding in plain sight in the foreground of a scene or even tucked away in the background mise-en-scene! he continued. Some Easter eggs are even known to be hidden in the DVD menus upon a films home release.

Alright, well let you scribble DVD menu madly in your notebooks.

Luckily for those of us still learning the ropes in the world of hidden messages, in films that are already so gripping and complicated in all their glory, if you read up before watching Endgame (or whatever movie it is) you may be able to spot a gooden.

It is not essential to be a superfan to be able to spot some Easter eggs as they can quite often be cross universe references, Sam added. For example, there has been a long running Easter egg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe of characters in almost every film losing a hand or an arm.

This pays homage to Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back as, in that film, Darth Vader cuts off Luke Skywalkers hand with his lightsaber. A rather gruesome reference for films as lighthearted as within the MCU but a fun little series of Easter egg nonetheless.

Star Wars seems to be a massive inspiration for golden eggs, so if youre a fan of the Force, youre a shoe in to glide through collecting snippets as you go.

Another one of my personal favourites features in Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Sam said. Featured in one of the ancient tombs Indie is exploring, a column in the background has many hieroglyphics carved into it and if you look closely enough, you can see hieroglyphs of lovable droids R2-D2 & C-3PO from Star Wars hidden amongst them.
